I left my house in the evening to go to Japanese archery practice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While talking with a member of the Japanese archery club, I mentioned maple. When I said that I\u2019m interested in maple, she responded that maple in Japan is more beautiful than Canada&#8217;s. Instead of maple, she insisted that dogwood here is impressive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through chatting with her, I learned a new word; it was forest bathing. Although most English terms can\u2019t be translated into Japanese directly, forest bathing is different. The Japanese synonym for forest bathing is \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shinrin Yoku<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shinrin<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> means forest and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yoku<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> means bath in English.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the National Geographic website, \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the term emerged in Japan\u201d.
