On Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, I got up at 11:30 a.m. PST and left my house in the afternoon to go to the University of British Columbia, which is also known as UBC.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I walked around the north side of its huge campus, which consisted of many buildings such as a library and a learning centre. The scenery looked more like a city rather than a campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The place where I spent a long time on the campus was Nitobe Memorial Garden, which my friend had recommended. I understood the difference between Japanese gardens like Nitobe Memorial Garden and Western ones, for example, VanDusen Botanical Garden, which I had visited earlier this month and where I saw a lot of colorful flowers. There were so few colorful flowers in Nitobe Memorial Garden that it had a peaceful and quiet atmosphere.<\/span><\/p>\n

While walking in the garden, I met a traveler who was from Sri Lanka and studying in Kelowna, Canada. Our conversation was so enjoyable that we explored UBC together even after leaving Nitobe Memorial Garden.
