On Sunday, July 28th, 2024, I got up around 6:00 a.m. PST and headed to Willingdon Church located in Burnaby. I had never been to a church before, but my friend introduced me to it and suggested that joining the community would help me improve my English and learn about the culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My friend, his friends, and I participated in the lecture at the church from 8:30 a.m. The number of participants exceeded my expectations, maybe more than 200 people. Surprisingly, there were two other meetings besides the one we joined, indicating how huge this church was.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

During the lecture, I listened to music and a presentation. Although I couldn\u2019t understand what the presenter said, the lecture was enjoyable because he was good at giving a speech. Having been studying presentations at my language school, I would like to imitate his skills in gestures and voice tones.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the afternoon, my friend and I joined another event held by members of a Japanese archery club who are a couple. The event was called a sip and see, which is for celebrating a baby with friends. Most Japanese people, including me, are unfamiliar with this kind of party; in addition, local people didn\u2019t know about it either.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Pork knuckles and ginger stew, a dish for celebrating babies in China, was provided to participants, as the host is Chinese-Canadian. Besides the dishes, I couldn\u2019t find much difference between regular parties and this event.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
