In my experience, it\u2019s hard for me to get close to Japanese people because we use honorific language, which prevents us from becoming close friends. Even though I don\u2019t want to use it, I\u2019m not sure if the people I talk to feel the same way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While I was studying at language school, I intentionally didn\u2019t talk to Japanese people to increase my opportunities to speak English. However, I recently changed my mind and now think it\u2019s fine to make Japanese friends.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One reason for my change in opinion is that I\u2019m interested in other Japanese students at college. Their backgrounds, such as hometowns and careers, are different from mine.
