I left home at 3:30 p.m. for Japanese archery practice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upon waking, I noticed that my host mother had left a note on our dining room table. She wanted to address two points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her first concern was about my weekly towel usage and the large amount of laundry it creates. According to her, previous students had used only two or three towels per week, while I use 14 hand towels during the same period. Her second point was about my excessive toilet paper usage, which she considered environmentally unfriendly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Honestly, I felt irritated by her comments as these issues relate to personal hygiene. Concepts of cleanliness vary by individual, and generally, no one has the right to interfere with others&#8217; habits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That night, we discussed these issues. Although I initially thought she was angry, I realized through our conversation that she wasn&#8217;t. She was merely curious about why I used more towels than her former housemates. After hearing my explanation, she understood my perspective.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regarding toilet paper, I learned that her concern was more about potential pipe clogging than environmental issues. To prevent clogging, she suggested flushing multiple times during one use.
