On Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, I got up around 7:00 a.m. PST and left for college in the morning.<\/span><\/p>\n

After class, I walked around Waterfront Station, a terminal station in Vancouver. From behind the station, I photographed an array of freight trains and West Coast Express vehicles on the railway tracks.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

While the extensive railway network presents a majestic view, the area seems like wasted space that could potentially become a hub for economic and cultural activities. In fact, according to a Daily Hive Vancouver article, an organization has created concepts as a case study for redeveloping the area, including the space above the railways.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

These plans remind me of a major redevelopment project in front of Osaka Station in Japan, known as the Umekita District. This well-known project transforms a former freight station site into a complex featuring hotels, a convention center, offices, a public bath, and a large park.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
