On Sunday, February 16th, 2025, I got up at 5:30 p.m. PST. Although I woke up once around 11:30 a.m., I ended up sleeping for about two-thirds of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

At home, as I had done a few days earlier, I researched statistical data on Indigenous peoples in British Columbia, where I live. Using the 2021 Census of Population from the Government of Canada’s website, I created a map showing the proportion of each Indigenous group in different areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

The map reveals that there are many regions with a high proportion of First Nations, indicated in yellow-green. In contrast, no area in the province has a high proportion of M\u00e9tis or Inuit.<\/span><\/p>\n

This trend is different from what I expected. Somehow, I had assumed that M\u00e9tis and Inuit had towns where only they lived. I wonder if each group wishes to change the current situation and establish regions exclusively for their own communities.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
