On Thursday, May 8th, 2025, I got up at 3:00 a.m. and left home early in the morning with my father to go to Mt. Tonodake, a 1,491-meter-high mountain in Kanagawa Prefecture.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We started hiking at 6:00 a.m. from a bus stop at an elevation of about 300 meters. Around 10:30 a.m., we reached the summit. After resting there for about 45 minutes, we began descending and eventually finished the hike around 2:30 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Since it was our first time hiking this mountain, we didn\u2019t know that hikers could see the cities along Sagami Bay from above. From midway up to the summit, there weren\u2019t many tall trees, so the area offered some good lookout points. Unfortunately, Mt. Fuji was hard to see, but the tallest mountain in Japan could be spotted unless it was hidden by clouds.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I saw some birds, like a <\/span>Eurasian nuthatch, a <\/span>varied tit<\/span>, and a Eurasian jay. When it comes to plants, I saw many violets blooming around the edge of the trail.
