On Thursday, June 26th, 2025, I got up around 9:00 a.m. and left home in the morning to walk around Okurayama Station in Yokohama.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

One of the places I visited that day was Morooka Kumano Shrine, which was built about 1,300 years ago. It might be a place of worship for local people, because I saw someone praying in front of the shrine gate.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Some trees there have been designated as symbolic and historic trees by the City of Yokohama. Many of them are Japanese evergreen oaks, and I was particularly impressed by one because it looked as majestic as giant cedars on Yakushima Island.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Another place I went to was a tiny park in a hilly area near the station, called Mamedo Horiage Park. I consider it a local hidden gem because it offers a view of the area around Shin-Yokohama Station, one of the stations on the Shinkansen bullet train line.
