On Wednesday, August 20th, 2025, I got up around noon PDT and went out in the evening to visit Queen Elizabeth Park, where I had been several times before.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I looked at a Pacific silver fir, also known as an amabilis fir, in the park. Its name was easy to find because there was a sign attached to the trunk.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A giant sequoia could also be seen in the park. Like the fir, it had a sign showing its name, so I could easily recognize what the huge tree was called.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Without these name plates, I wouldn\u2019t have been able to identify either species. It\u2019s hard for me to tell the difference between firs and spruces. As for giant sequoias, I\u2019m not sure how to tell them apart from other conifers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
