On Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, I got up around 6:00 a.m. PDT and went to the Rosemary Brown Recreation Centre, which has ice rinks.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I visited there around noon, and many young people were also there. They were likely students from a secondary school located next to the centre. They were chatting and eating lunch inside the facility. I was surprised that students are allowed to leave their school during break time, since that isn\u2019t common in Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The ice skating fee for the session held between 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays is much cheaper than usual\u2014only two Canadian dollars\u2014so the session is called \u201cToonie Skate.\u201d<\/p>\n

There were around ten people on the rink, and it was less crowded than when I skated there in the evening on a previous Tuesday. Practicing the sport today felt more comfortable than last time.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
