On Friday, January 9th, 2026, I got up at 5:00 a.m. PST and went out in the afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n

The place I visited today was Hillcrest Centre in Vancouver. The facility was built to stage curling events at the 2010 Olympics and has since been repurposed as a community centre with various amenities, such as a library, curling rinks, an ice skating rink, a swimming pool, and a fitness centre.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I joined a public skating session there today from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The rink was more crowded than other ice skating facilities I have been to in Metro Vancouver, probably because students could come there after school. Besides kids, I also saw skillful adults there, who were fun to watch.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The session was discounted and cost approximately four dollars, while the regular fee for public skating there is about eight dollars. Four dollars was cheaper compared to rinks in Japan, but more expensive than some other facilities in Metro Vancouver that offer \u201ctoonie skate.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
