On Thursday, January 15th, 2026, I got up around 8:30 a.m. PST and practiced ice skating around noon.<\/span><\/p>\n

The skill I tried to get used to today was the Mohawk. To execute this movement, you have to turn your toes out, and the angle between them should be almost 180 degrees. In this posture, you glide sideways.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, I couldn\u2019t get the hang of it. No matter how hard I tried, I ended up rotating in place instead of moving sideways. I also attempted it while using a skate walker as a training aid, but it didn\u2019t help.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mohawk is similar to the Ina Bauer, which is one of the well-known elements in figure skating in Japan, in that skaters turn their toes out. The Ina Bauer clearly requires a more complicated posture than the Mohawk, which I am currently struggling to master.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
