On Friday, January 30th, 2026, I got up around 5:00 a.m. PST and met up with a friend of mine in Vancouver in the morning.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My friend drove me north, passing through Squamish and Whistler, and we reached Pemberton. The purpose of our visit was ice fishing. Fishing is her hobby, and she invited me to go ice fishing so that I could experience something representative of Canada. I would like to give her a shout-out.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A guide took us to an ice fishing spot, which was a frozen lake near a mountain. As it was raining, we set up a small tent, drilled holes in the ice\u2014which was about 7 to 8 inches thick\u2014and put our fishing lines into the holes. After the rain eased off, we packed up the tent and moved to another spot on the lake, out in the open, to continue fishing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, we couldn\u2019t catch any fish. The guide sometimes noticed signs on a fish finder that there were fish around us, but I didn\u2019t see any fish at all.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

That said, I was very satisfied with the experience for several reasons. It was impressive to head out to the fishing spot, as it was my first time walking on the ice of a lake. Fishing itself was also my first experience in my life, and learning how difficult it is to catch fish was very valuable to me.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
