On Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, I got up at 9:00 a.m. PST and left my house around 10:30 a.m. to go to my language school.
I was troubled by a classmate from Taiwan who was supposed to give a presentation with me during class today. She was absent from the class without contacting me or the teacher. As a result, our presentation was postponed.
It is hard to come up with a reason why she didn’t come today, as there had been no indication that she would be absent from the presentation. Until yesterday, she had been leading the discussion for the presentation even more than I was.
About two weeks ago, I was in a similar situation when a classmate from Korea, who was supposed to give a presentation with me, was absent on the day we were scheduled to present. Before these two experiences, I thought that Asian people tended to have a strong sense of responsibility, but these experiences proved that my assumption was wrong.
