家賃支払いのために銀行口座を確認していた際、悲しい事実に気付いた。Googleが提供するオンライン講座に、毎月68カナダドルを支払っていたことだ。データ分析について習うことができるこの講座を、私は去年から始めたが、今年はほとんどさわっていなかった。
講座内の残っていた課題に急遽取りかかり、今日のうちに修了した。もし怠けていなければ、5か月前には修了できていたはずだ。5か月分の費用、340カナダドル（およそ3万5000円）を無駄にしてしまったことになる。
こうした無駄な出費を経験したにもかかわらず、別のオンラインサービスを今日買ってしまった。メジャーリーグのポストシーズンを観戦できる配信サービスだ。料金はおよそ50カナダドル。大谷翔平選手による2本の衝撃的なホームランをハイライト動画で見て、試合の中継を観たくなった。
On Tuesday, September 30th, 2025, I went to bed at 10:00 a.m. PDT and got up at 4:00 p.m. I stayed home all day.
When I paid my monthly rent online and checked my bank account, I noticed that I had been paying CAD 68 every month for a subscription service I have hardly used this year. The service is an online data analytics course offered by Google, which I started last year.
I deeply regretted not finishing the course yet, so I quickly resumed working on the remaining tasks in the program and managed to complete it today. If I hadn’t been so lazy, I could have finished it five months ago, which means I wasted CAD 340 in payments for those months.
Although I had that wasteful experience with a subscription, I still went ahead and bought another online service. It’s a streaming service for watching Major League Baseball postseason games, and it costs about CAD 50. After watching recap videos where Shohei Ohtani hit two stunning home runs, I started wanting to watch the games live.
