On Sunday, June 30th, 2024, I got up at 12:30 p.m. PST and left my house around 2:30 p.m. to walk in John Hendry Park, which is located in suburban Vancouver.
There is Trout Lake in the central part of the park. The area of the lake was smaller than I had expected, maybe smaller than Shinobazu Pond in Tokyo, Japan.
Two black birds with white bills were walking along the coast of the lake. They were American Coots, which were similar to Eurasian Coots, which I had usually seen in winter on Yakushima Island, Japan.
A yellow bird, American Goldfinch, also caught my eye. It was as flashy as a Narcissus Flycatcher, which I had seen on Yakushima Island.
