現地時間2024年8月22日（木）、午前7時10分に起きた。午前7時50分に家を出て、専門学校へ向かった。
弓道の練習に参加したかったが、断念した。翌日の昼前までに提出しなければならないレポートが、まだ終わっていなかったからだ。
韓国出身のクラスメイトと学校で話をした。例えば、レポートの書式である「APA」について教えてもらった。私はその書式を使ったことがなかったが、その友人は語学学校で習ったそうだ。私が通っていた語学学校では残念ながら、学ぶ機会がなかった。
英語学習に関するアドバイスもくれた。パブに行けばネイティブスピーカーと話す機会をつくることができるから、英語力の向上に役立つというものだ。クラスメイト曰く、ダウンタウンにある図書館前のパブがおすすめだという。語学学校の先生も私に対して、同じ助言をくれたことがある。私としては乗り気ではないが、英語力を高めるためにはパブに行くしかないのかもしれない。
On Thursday, August 22nd, 2024, I got up at 7:10 a.m. PST and left my house at 7:50 a.m. to go to my college.
Although I wanted to attend Japanese archery practice, I couldn’t because I had to work on a report that was due by 11:30 a.m. the next day.
During break time, I talked with a classmate from Korea, and she taught me the format for the assignment. We were required to follow a specific style called APA for the report, but I wasn’t familiar with it. She mentioned that she had learned APA at her language school, which was different from the one I attended.
She also gave me another tip related to learning English. According to her, visiting a pub can be helpful for improving English skills, as it provides opportunities to talk with native speakers. She recommended a pub in front of the public library. In fact, I had heard the same advice from a teacher at my language school. It might be unavoidable to do this in order to enhance my skills.
