現地時間2024年8月26日（月）、正午ごろ起きた。18時に家を出て弓道の練習に向かった。
家にいる間、翌日のプレゼンテーションの準備をしていた。私たち生徒は、就職したい会社や将来のキャリアについて発表しなければいけない。
どんなプレゼンテーションも基本的には、いくつかのパートに分かれる。導入、本論、結論などだ。専門学校の先生は、発表の終盤部分が聴衆の記憶に残るから、結論が最も重要な部分だと話していた。
一方、私が通っていた語学学校の先生たちは、導入部分を重視していた。導入に力を入れて、聴衆の興味をひくことが重要といった考えだ。個人的にはこちらの意見を支持している。
導入と結論、結局どちらが重要なのだろうか。疑問に思った私は、弓道クラブのメンバーとその旦那さんに質問してみた。彼女の答えは「両方」と答え、彼の答えは「結論」だった。要は、プレゼンテーションに対する考え方は人それぞれだということだ。
彼は、「導入部の目的は、聴衆が眠くならないようにすること」とも話していた。この意見にはほとんどの人が同意するはずだ。
On Monday, August 26th, 2024, I got up around noon and left my house at 6:00 p.m. to head to Japanese archery practice.
While staying at home, I prepared a presentation that I would give the next day. Students at my college have to introduce the company they want to work for and the future career they hope to pursue.
Generally speaking, a presentation is divided into several parts, such as an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. My teacher at the college told us that the conclusion is the most important part, saying that the audience tends to remember the last part of the presentation.
In contrast, my teachers at language school generally emphasized the introduction because a powerful introduction is essential for drawing the attention of the audience.
I wondered which part is more important, so I asked my question to a member of the Japanese archery club and her husband. She answered “both,” and he answered “a conclusion.” This shows that attitudes towards presentations can vary depending on the person. He also said that the purpose of an introduction is to keep listeners from falling asleep, which most people might agree with.
