現地時間2025年3月10日（月）、午前11時ごろに起きた。午後は散歩と買い物をした。
バーナビーにあるサイモンフレーザー大学を訪れた。「SFU」とも呼ばれるこの大学は、入り江近くの丘にキャンパスを構えている。
キャンパスの建物には一見の価値があった。モノクロの渋い外観の建物群からは、「現代の流行に媚びないぞ」という姿勢を、勝手ながら感じ取った。
中核的な位置づけであろう建物が、図書館だ。図書館の前には、大屋根付きの広場があり、開放的な広場と閉鎖的な図書館が共存している。学生は1人であろうとグループであろうと、ここに来れば快適に過ごせるだろう。
キャンパスの周りには巨大な公園が広がっている。森のなかにハイキングコースがのび、散歩を楽しむ人たちの姿があった。公園の西側からは、バンクーバーの都市部が見渡せる。以前この大学で働いていた友人は、公園から見る夕日が綺麗だと教えてくれた。
On Monday, March 10, 2025, I got up around 11:00 a.m. PDT and went for a walk and shopping in the afternoon.
I visited Simon Fraser University in Burnaby for the first time. The campus is situated on a hill near an inlet.
The campus buildings are worth seeing. The monochrome exteriors of some buildings give them a timeless, classical appearance, which made me feel that the university values traditional concepts and does not simply conform to modern trends.
I believe the library plays an important role there. In front of it, there is a huge square with a massive, tall roof, where an open space and an enclosed space coexist.
Surrounding the campus is a vast park with trails and forests. Some people, including myself, enjoyed hiking there. From the west side of the park, you can see the urban area of Vancouver. My friend, who used to work at the university, told me that the sunset view from the park is beautiful.
