現地時間2025年3月12日（水）、午前10時ごろに寝て、17時に起きた。一日中家にいた。
今日もテレビでアイスホッケーを観た。バンクーバー・カナックス対カルガリー・フレームスの一戦だ。第3ピリオド終了時点でスコアは3-3。延長戦でも決着がつかず、最終的にカナックスがシュートアウトで勝利した。
シュートアウトはサッカーでいうPK戦のようなものだ。シュートアウトまでもつれた試合を観るのは、私にとって今日が初めてだった。サッカーのPK戦と比べると、得点の難易度は高く、観客にとってはより刺激的だと思う。
もう1つ、初めて目にしたプレーがある。フレームスの2点目の場面だ。カナックスがパワープレー中にもかかわらず、フレームスにパックを奪われ、得点を許してしまった。
パワープレー中のチームは人数の多さを生かし、その時間帯に限って試合を優位に進めることができる。一方、人数が少ない方のチームは得点するどころか、攻撃することすら難しい。しかし、カナックスはそれを許してしまった。
On Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, I went to bed around 10:00 a.m. and got up at 5:00 p.m. PDT. I stayed home all day.
The ice hockey game I watched on TV today was between the Vancouver Canucks and the Calgary Flames. The score at the end of the third period was 3-3, and they were still tied at the end of overtime. Finally, the Canucks defeated the Flames in a shootout.
It was my first time watching a shootout in this sport. Based on what I saw today, it seemed harder for shooters to score and more exciting for the audience compared to penalty kicks in soccer.
There was another first for me—the Flames’ second goal. Even though the Canucks were on a power play, they allowed the Flames to gain possession of the puck and score. A team with a power play is supposed to dominate since they have more players on the ice. It is usually difficult for the shorthanded team to even mount an attack, let alone score. However, the Canucks let it happen.
