2025年4月21日（月）、午前11時ごろに起きた。正午ごろに家を出た。秋葉原での用事を済ませたあと、そこから渋谷駅まで歩いた。渋谷駅からは電車で下北沢へ向かい、友達が出演するライブを鑑賞した。
皇居の周辺や赤坂、青山あたりを歩いた。東京の中心部を歩くのは久しぶりだ。
東京の建物を眺めながら歩くのは、相変わらず面白かった。今日の散歩で目に留まったのは、共立女子大学のキャンパス、パレスサイドビルだ。カナダ大使館も印象に残った。
カナダ大使館について知ったのは最近のことだ。日本のテレビ番組で偶然知った。外観が独特で面白いし、設計者にも興味をひかれる。レイモンド・モリヤマという日系カナダ人で、著名な建築家らしい。バンクーバー近郊にある日系文化センター・博物館のウェブサイトによると、この施設の設計にも関わったそうだ。
On Monday, April 21st, 2025, I got up around 11:00 a.m. and left home around noon to head to Tokyo. After taking care of some errands in Akihabara, I walked to Shibuya Station and then caught a train to Shimokitazawa to attend a small live show where my friend was performing.
It had been a while since I last walked around central Tokyo—places like the area around the Imperial Palace, Akasaka, and Aoyama.
Just like in the past, walking around Tokyo and seeing the architecture was a fun experience. For example, the campus of Kyoritsu Women’s University, the Palaceside Building, and the Embassy of Canada all caught my eye.
I didn’t know much about the Canadian Embassy in Japan until I saw it on TV after returning from Vancouver this year. What interests me is not only its unique design but also the architect behind it. It was designed by Raymond Moriyama, a well-known Japanese Canadian architect. According to the website of the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre, he was also involved in designing their facility in Burnaby.
