2025年4月25日（金）、午前9時に起きた。午後、歯医者に行った。
夕方、岸根公園を訪れた。地元・横浜のなかでもお気に入りの公園だ。トチノキはもう少しで満開になりそうな感じだった。逆に、シャクナゲの見頃はもう過ぎてしまったようだ。
公園の一角にある広場では、子どもたちが野球をしていた。その近くでアオダモの木が、爽やかな白い花を咲かせていた。アオダモが野球バットの材料として有名なのは知っていたが、私にとって花を見るのは初めてだった。
これまで3種類の木を挙げたように、岸根公園にはさまざまな木がある。森に行ったり、植物図鑑を眺めたりするのもよいが、ここで植物を学ぶのも悪くないと思う。
On Friday, April 25th, 2025, I got up around 9:00 a.m. and went to the dental clinic in the afternoon.
In the evening, I visited Kishine Park, one of my favorite parks in my hometown, Yokohama. It was a little too early to see the Japanese horse chestnut in full bloom, and just a bit too late to catch the rhododendrons at their best.
In a corner of the park where children were playing baseball, an Aodamo tree—closely related to ash trees—was in bloom. Although I knew that Aodamo is a well-known material for baseball bats, it was my first time seeing its white, refreshing flowers.
As I’ve already mentioned three kinds of trees, it’s clear that the park has a great variety. I think it’s a nice place to learn about plants, just like in a forest or a botanical field guide.
