On Friday, April 11th, 2025, I got up at 8:30 a.m. and left home around noon to head to a public sports facility in Ota Ward, Tokyo, to practice Japanese archery.
It was my first time visiting the facility, although I had seen pictures of its distinctive exterior before. Just like the outside, the interior of the dojo inside the facility was also neat and pleasant.
Even though it was a weekday afternoon, there were young men practicing there. I was surprised, as I had expected only elderly, retired people to be using the space.
The male archers I saw today were very skilled—their posture, especially around the shoulders, was well-balanced, and they hit the target with high accuracy. I’m grateful to them, as watching technically proficient archers is one of the best ways to improve my own skills.
