2025年5月26日（月）、午前11時半に起きた。夕方、近所を散歩した。
屋久島で以前撮った写真を、家で見返した。屋久島・口永良部島の写真コンテストに応募するためだ。
このコンテストは屋久杉自然館が実施している。応募者が提出できる写真は1枚のみで、応募作品はこの施設に展示される予定だ。受賞作品は来館者の投票と主催者の選考で決まる。
どの作品を応募するか決める際、私の場合はいろいろな要素を考えた。自分の好みはもちろん、来館者がどんな写真を気に入るのかや、他の参加者がどんな作品を出してくるのかも想像した。ブログに写真を載せるのとは一味違う、頭の体操になった。
On Monday, May 26th, 2025, I got up around 11:30 a.m. and took a walk around my neighborhood in the evening.
At home, I reviewed photos I had taken while living on Yakushima Island, selecting the most compelling ones to submit to a regional photo contest.
The contest is organized by the Yakusugi Museum on the island, and the deadline is the end of this month. All submissions will be displayed at the museum. The prizes will be awarded based on votes from museum visitors and the organizer’s selection.
I don’t usually participate in photo contests, although I consistently take and share photos on my blog. Therefore, I had to switch gears in an unusual way to select a piece for the contest. For instance, I considered not only the scenery and objects I truly love, but also the kinds of photos that would appeal to visitors and the types of works other participants might submit. This thought process was definitely stimulating.
