2025年5月27日（火）、午前9時に起きた。午前10時半に家を出て、図書館に向かった。
図書館の名前は、海老名市立中央図書館。海老名駅近くに立つ施設で、2015年にリニューアルオープンした。CCCが運営に参画している。CCCは、TSUTAYAや蔦屋書店を展開する企業だ。こうした事情を踏まえ、一部メディアは「ツタヤ図書館」としてこの図書館を取り上げている。
施設の1階には、蔦屋書店とスターバックスが店を構える。建物全体の内装や家具は、”蔦屋書店らしさ”を感じるスタイルだ。
大きな吹き抜けが1～2階を貫く。その吹き抜けを囲むように、2階に座席が並び、そのうちの一席で私は本を読んだりパソコンをいじったりした。広々とした空間のおかげで、快適に過ごすことができた。
心なしか、香りが普通の図書館とは違うように感じた。1階のスターバックスから漂う匂いが、2階まで届いていたのだろう。この香りも、居心地のよさをつくりだすのに一役買っていた。
On Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, I got up at 9:00 a.m. and left my home at 10:30 a.m. to visit a library outside Yokohama.
The library is called Ebina City Central Library, and it is located near Ebina Station, which is about half an hour by train from Yokohama Station. The library is also known as the “TSUTAYA Library” because it is operated by CCC, a private company that runs the TSUTAYA-brand bookstore chain known for its stylish atmosphere.
In this building, which has one basement level and four stories above ground, the bookstore and Starbucks are located on the first floor. The interior design and furniture throughout the building reflect the distinctive style associated with TSUTAYA BOOKS.
A large atrium between the first and second floors contributes to a sense of spaciousness, and seats for reading and studying are lined along the edge of the atrium on the second floor. Thanks to the openness provided by the atrium, I was able to spend time comfortably at one of the seats. The scent in the building felt distinct from that of regular libraries, creating a soothing atmosphere. It might have drifted up from the Starbucks on the first floor to the upper floor.
