現地時間2025年9月1日（月）、午前4時ごろに起きた。午後、新居に移った。夕方は弓道の練習をした。
引っ越しは無事に終わった。ありがたいことに友人が車を出してくれて、荷物の運搬を手伝ってくれた。
私が今回引っ越しをすることになった理由は、前の家に入居できる期間がもともと決まっていたからだ。その期間が先月末で終了した。
前の家に住めたのは、とても運が良かった。自分専用のバスルームがあり、同居人はホストマザー1人だけ。立地は駅まで徒歩5分ほどで、最寄り駅にはドラッグストアや食料品店がある。
これらの条件を考えると、家賃は1100〜1200カナダドルくらいになってもおかしくない。だが私が払っていたのは850ドル。自分で体験したことや友人から聞いた話を踏まえると、こうした好条件の物件は知人の紹介でゲットできることが多いようだ。インターネットで探してもなかなか見つからない。
On Monday, September 1st, 2025, I got up around 4:00 a.m. PDT, moved to a new house in the afternoon, and practiced Japanese archery in the evening.
Thankfully, my friend drove me from my old place to the new one. Without her help, I wouldn’t have been able to carry all my luggage, which included two suitcases, one box, two backpacks, and more.
Looking back, I was really lucky to have lived in my previous place. I had my own bedroom and bathroom, and only one housemate. On top of that, the condo I lived in was just about a five-minute walk from a train station, with a drugstore and a grocery store nearby.
Considering these factors and the rental market in Vancouver, the rent could easily have been around CAD 1,100 or 1,200, but it was actually only CAD 850. Just like this place, I believe affordable and convenient housing is more likely to be found through friends’ recommendations than on the internet.
