現地時間2025年9月21日（日）、13時ごろに起きた。午後、リッチモンドを訪れた。
カーリングの施設に向かった。カーリングの体験会に参加するためだ。
体験会が終わる直前に到着したため、私はカーリングをすることはできなかった。それでも、スタッフの方が施設を案内してくれて、さらには初心者教室についても紹介してくれた。「これを機にカーリングを始めてみようか」。そう考え始めている自分がいる。
そのあと、「リッチモンド・オリンピック・オーバル」という施設にも行った。この建物は、巨大な多目的スポーツ施設で、バスケットボールコートやアイスリンクなどを備える。
アイスリンクは2面ある。そのうちの1つではアイスホッケー、もう片方ではスピードスケートの練習をやっていた。リンクの周りには、子どもたちの練習を見守る、保護者らしき大人たちの姿があった。
On Sunday, September 21st, 2025, I got up around 1:00 p.m. PDT and went out in the afternoon to walk around Richmond.
The first place I visited was the Richmond Curling Centre, since a friend of mine had told me about an open house at the facility.
Although I arrived just before the event ended, a host member showed me around inside the building and encouraged me to join a beginners’ course to start curling. Her welcoming attitude was enough to make me seriously consider learning it.
Afterwards, I also visited the Richmond Olympic Oval, a huge multi-sport arena located near the curling club. When I was there, an ice hockey practice was taking place in one rink, while a speed skating program was happening in another. Around these rinks, some people, likely the players’ parents, were watching over their kids.
