現地時間2025年9月23日（火）、午前6時ごろに起きた。一日中、外出しなかった。
今朝、家のコンセントが突然使えなくなった。不思議なことに全部がダメになったわけではなく、いくつかはまだ使えた。ルームメイトに相談したところ、すぐに直してくれた。原因はブレーカーだったようだ。
私はほかにも、やらなければいけないことがあった。日本からカナダへの送金だ。1年ほど前に海外送金した際は1カナダドル115円くらいだったが、今日は少し円高になって107円ほどだった。
以前はもっと円が強かったようだ。カナダ銀行が発表している過去5年の為替レートを見ると、1カナダドルが100円を切っていた時期もある。日本からカナダに来る人、例えば旅行者や学生にとって、今の為替状況はあまりありがたくない。
On Monday, September 23rd, 2025, I got up around 6:00 a.m. PDT and stayed home.
The outlets in my house suddenly stopped working this morning. Strangely, not all of them were out; some still worked. I asked my housemates about it, and one of them figured out that the breaker had caused the problem and fixed it.
Besides that, I also took care of a few errands. For example, I had to transfer money from Japan to Canada. The last time I sent money overseas, about a year ago, the exchange rate for the Canadian dollar was around 115 yen, but today it was about 107 yen, meaning the yen had strengthened a bit.
If you look at the exchange rate over the past five years published by the Bank of Canada, you’ll notice that the yen used to be stronger, with the rate below 100 yen. For travelers or students coming from Japan to Canada, the current exchange situation is rather unfavorable.
