現地時間2025年10月8日（水）、午前6時に起きた。朝、公園でのボランティア活動に参加した。
ボランティアの作業を終えたあと、メトロタウン駅の周辺を歩いた。
駅前には、図書館と一体となった広場がある。高層マンションに囲まれたこの広場では、木の葉が黄色く変わり始めている。
話は変わる。バンクーバーのある駅で日本人らしき人たちを見かけた。制服を着た女子生徒だった。5人ほどのグループで、年代としては恐らく中学生か高校生。修学旅行中だったのだろうか。日本語表示に設定した券売機で切符を買おうとしていた。バンクーバーでは制服姿の生徒を見かけること自体が珍しく、私のなかで印象に残った。
On Wednesday, October 8th, 2025, I got up at 6:00 a.m. PDT and took part in volunteer work at a park in the morning.
After finishing the volunteer work, I walked around Metrotown Station.
There is a plaza with a public library near the station, surrounded by high-rise condominiums. The trees standing in the middle of the plaza were becoming beautiful as their leaves turned yellow. I’m not sure what species they are, but I guess they are thornless honey locusts.
By the way, at a station in Vancouver, I saw a group of about five Japanese girls wearing school uniforms, who looked like high school or junior high school students. They seemed to have come from Japan on a school trip and were trying to buy public transportation tickets using a vending machine set to Japanese. Since it’s uncommon to see students wearing school uniforms here, their appearance really stood out to me.
