現地時間2025年10月7日（火）、午前6時ごろに起きた。アイススケート施設「ローズマリー・ブラウン・レクリエーション・センター」を訪れた。
訪れた時間帯は、正午ごろ。施設内には、多くの若者たちの姿があった。彼らは、施設の隣にある高校の生徒のようで、おしゃべりをしたり昼食をとったりしていた。日本で休み時間に学校外へ出ることは一般的でないため、私にとっては新鮮な光景だった。
私がアイスリンクに来たのは当然、スケートをするためだ。火曜日の正午手前から13時までの時間帯は、スケート料金が2カナダドル（およそ200円）しかかからない。この時間帯は「トゥーニー・スケート」という名前がついている。トゥーニーとは、カナダの2ドル硬貨のことらしい。
リンクで滑っていた利用者は、10人ほどだった。以前私が火曜の夜に来たときよりも、空いていた。練習するうえでは快適な環境だった。
On Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, I got up around 6:00 a.m. PDT and went to the Rosemary Brown Recreation Centre, which has ice rinks.
I visited there around noon, and many young people were also there. They were likely students from a secondary school located next to the centre. They were chatting and eating lunch inside the facility. I was surprised that students are allowed to leave their school during break time, since that isn’t common in Japan.
The ice skating fee for the session held between 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays is much cheaper than usual—only two Canadian dollars—so the session is called “Toonie Skate.”
There were around ten people on the rink, and it was less crowded than when I skated there in the evening on a previous Tuesday. Practicing the sport today felt more comfortable than last time.
