現地時間2025年11月26日（水）、午前5時半に起きた。午前中、公園でボランティア活動をした。
作業を終えたあと、ボランティア仲間の1人と一緒に昼食をとった。場所は丸亀製麺。その友人は丸亀製麺に行くのが初めてだったらしい。初めて食べてみて、「また来たい」と彼は言っていた。
時計を戻して、ボランティアに向かう途中の出来事を述べる。私は、初めて見る鳥に遭遇した。満足のいく写真を撮ることはできなかったものの、その黄色がかった体が印象に残った。
鳥の名前はルビーキクイタダキ。性別は雌だろう。英名の「Ruby-crowned Kinglet」が示すように、雄は頭の一部が赤いそうだ。
On Wednesday, November 26th, 2025, I got up at 5:30 a.m. PST and did some volunteer work at a park in the morning.
After the volunteer work, I went to Marugame Udon, a restaurant that serves udon noodles in downtown, with another member of the volunteer team. It was his first time visiting the restaurant, and he seemed to like it.
On the way to the volunteer site, I spotted a bird I had never seen before. Although I couldn’t take good pictures of it because it moved quickly, its yellowish body stood out to me.
The bird was a female Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Unlike the one I saw today, a male Ruby-crowned Kinglet has a red patch on its head, as the name suggests.
