現地時間2025年11月30日（日）、午前7時に起きた。午後、凛とする寒さのなか、スタンレーパークを散歩した。
園内の湖では、水辺に沿って霧が出ていた。湖の上には霧がかかっていない。水面に浮かぶ鴨の姿がしっかりと確認できた。
私が散歩中に注目したのはマイヅルソウ。ブリティッシュコロンビア州の在来種であるマイヅルソウは、宝石のような赤い実をつける。
森にはまだ、マイヅルソウの実が残っている。実をつけた一部の茎は、苔の上に倒れていた。葉はどこかに行ってしまったようだ。マイヅルソウの寿命が終わりを迎えつつあるのか。それとも来春にまた芽吹くのだろうか。私にはわからない。
On Thursday, November 27th, 2025, I got up at 7:00 a.m. PST and went out in the afternoon for a stroll in Stanley Park.
The weather was nice and cold today, and a layer of fog formed along the edge of a lake in the park. Interestingly, it wasn’t foggy above the lake itself, so the ducks on the water were still visible from the path along the shore.
What I focused on during my walk was the False Lily of the Valley, a native species in BC whose red berries look like beautiful little gems.
Although the berries were still present in the forest today, its leaves had apparently already gone. Some stems with fruit were lying on the mossy ground. I’m not sure whether the plants are nearing the end of their life, or if they will come back next spring.
