現地時間2025年10月18日（土）、午前12時半ごろに起きた。夕方、弓道の練習をした。
昨夜から今朝にかけて、同居人の友人らしき男性が家に来た。その男性は、同居人の部屋に泊まった。
深夜になっても彼らはかなりうるさかったけれど、私は文句を言わずにやり過ごした。この家の騒がしさに慣れてきた。
話は変わって、今日あった別の出来事について。昨年から知っている日本人留学生と、久しぶりに会った。昨年の時点では内気な性格だったその女性。英語もあまり得意ではなかったが、今日友人たちと話している様子は、以前とまったく違った。英語が流暢になり、自然な感じで会話をしていた。若い人が能力を伸ばし、新しい環境に適応していく様を目の当たりにするのは、なかなかよいものだ。
On Saturday, October 18th, 2025, I got up around 12:30 p.m. PDT and practiced Japanese archery in the evening.
From last night into this morning, a man who seemed to be a friend of my housemate came over to our house and stayed overnight in my housemate’s room.
They were so noisy even at midnight, but I managed to stay calm and did not complain to them about it. This shows that I have gotten used to how noisy people here can be.
By the way, I met an international student from Japan whom I have known since last year and had not seen for quite a while. Although she was shy and not very good at English last year, the way she communicated with her friends today was completely different from the last time I met her. She had clearly improved her language skills and was talking with them naturally. It was impressive for me to see how much a young person can improve their abilities and adapt to a new environment.
