「6-7, slop, rage bait: Words of the Year 2025」というタイトルの動画だ。

On Thursday, December 25th, 2025, I got up around 12:30 p.m. PST and stayed home all day.

From what I understand, Christmas Day in Canada is similar to New Year’s Day in Japan. Families and relatives gather in their hometowns, and many retailers are closed. The most boring part of the day was that there were no ice hockey games to watch.

CBC, Canada’s public broadcaster, which I follow regularly, has recently posted videos that wrap up the major issues and topics of the year. Among them, I found one interesting report titled “6-7, slop, rage bait: Words of the Year 2025.”

As the title suggests, the video introduces words that became widely known in 2025 and includes interviews with ordinary people about their thoughts on these terms. Words such as “rage bait,” “6-7,” “vibe coding,” “parasocial,” and “slop” were mentioned. Since I was unfamiliar with all of them except “6-7,” the video helped me learn English as well as some currently well-known concepts. At the same time, I was able to understand why these words, except for “6-7,” have spread so widely. “Parasocial” is particularly interesting to me, because similar concepts have been becoming increasingly common in Japan as well, at least from what I know.
