トルドー首相の辞任に関するニュースについて、ホストマザーと話した。バンクーバーに来て以来、彼に対する肯定的な意見をカナダ人から聞いたことがなかったので、個人的にはこのニュースに驚くことはなかった。新たな首相はどのように選出されるのだろうか。関連する報道を追うことで、カナダの政治制度について学びたい。
17時に家を出て、弓道の練習に向かった。私が住むニューウェストミンスターは、霧に包まれていた。フレーザー川の対岸が見えないほど、霧は濃かった。
練習後、弓道クラブのメンバー数人と食事に行った。帰りは、そのうちの1人の車に乗せてもらった。帰り道でも濃霧に遭遇し、車に乗るのが若干怖かった。

I discussed with my host mother the breaking news that Justin Trudeau had decided to step down as the Prime Minister of Canada. Since moving to Vancouver, I had never heard Canadians express positive opinions about him, so I received this news without surprise. While I’m uncertain about the process of selecting a new national leader, I aim to learn more about the political system here by following news coverage of this transition.
At 5:00 p.m., I left home for Japanese archery practice. My neighborhood, New Westminster, was so engulfed in fog that I could barely see the opposite bank of the Fraser River.
After practice, I dined at a restaurant with several members of the Japanese archery club. During our drive home, I encountered thick fog again, which made me anxious about riding in my friend’s car.
