現地時間12月21日（土）、午前11時過ぎに起きた。午後、弓道の練習へ向かった。
今日の練習では、2つのイベントがあった。1つ目は、初心者のメンバーたちが体配を初めて練習したことだ。体配とは、弓をひく動作とその前後を合わせた、一連の所作を指す。私は高校生の時にこれを学んだが、どのように習得したかは覚えていない。
練習後にあったのは、クリスマスパーティー。日本でいう忘年会のようなもので、メンバーが食事をとりながら歓談した。
数人のメンバーが会のために食事を持ってきてくれた。春巻きのようなギリシャ料理、そしてカレーを食べた。どちらも美味しかった。私は食事を持っていくことはできなかったので、ジュースを買っていった。
On Saturday, December 21st, 2024, I got up after 11:00 a.m. PST and left home in the afternoon for Japanese archery practice.
Today’s practice featured two special events. First, beginner members experienced Taihai for the first time – a set of formal movements that include shooting and its preceding and following actions. I had learned this as a high school student, though I don’t recall how I mastered it.
After practice, we had our second event: a Christmas party, similar to Bonenkai in Japan – an end-of-year gathering for mutual appreciation.
Several members kindly brought potluck dishes, including curry. A Greek member provided traditional rolls that were delicious, though I can’t remember their name. Unable to bring a dish myself, I contributed juice instead.
