現地時間2024年12月14日（土）、午前8時ごろに起きた。午後に家を出て、弓道の練習へ向かった。
初心者のメンバーが実際の的に向かって、矢を放つ練習をした。普段、基礎練習を繰り返している彼らにとって、初めての経験だ。的までの距離は、正規の距離の半分ほどだったものの、通常の練習よりも刺激的だったに違いない。
帰宅途中、電車内でクリスマスソングを大音量で流している人に遭遇した。演奏しているのか、機械から音が出ているのかは分からなかったが、少なくとも乗客たちの注目を集めていたことは確かだ。パフォーマーはその後、車両内を歩きながら、乗客たちに寄付を求めていた。
ニューヨークの地下鉄では、同様のパフォーマーを見かけたことが何度もある。だが、バンクーバーでこのような出来事に遭遇したのは初めてだ。普段のバンクーバーの電車が比較的静かなことを考えると、面白い経験だった。
On Saturday, December 14th, 2024, I got up around 8:00 a.m. PST and left home in the afternoon for Japanese archery practice.
During today’s practice, the beginner members shot at real targets for the first time. Although they were shooting from about half the official distance, it must have been more enjoyable than their usual practice.
On my way home, I encountered someone playing loud Christmas music on the train. After drawing passengers’ attention, he walked through the car asking for donations.
While I had seen similar performers in New York’s subway system, this was my first such encounter in Vancouver. Considering how relatively quiet the trains in Vancouver usually are, it was somewhat surprising.
