現地時間2024年12月31日（火）、午前12時半に起きた。午後、家の近くのスーパーで買い物をした。
誰かと出かけることはなく、穏やかな一日だった。友達と会って話すのは好きだけれど、今日のような日が週に一度は必要だ。
家でくつろいでいる間、ホストマザーと雑談をした。昨日観た映画の感想だけでなく、ニューヨークのブロードウェイなど他のエンタメについても話した。
ニューヨークと言えば、ホストマザーと一緒にカウントダウンの生中継を観た。あの世界的に有名なカウントダウンのイベントだ。
バンクーバーで知り合った日本人の友達は、この年末年始ニューヨークを旅行しているという。私がニューヨークを最後に訪れたのはだいぶ前で、興味を失いかけていたが、ニューヨーク関連の話題を見聞きしていると、なんだかまた行きたくなってくる。
On Tuesday, December 31st, 2024, I got up at 12:30 p.m. PST and left my house in the afternoon to go shopping at a grocery store near my home.
It was a peaceful day since I didn’t hang out with friends. Although I enjoy talking with friends or other people, I need a day like today once a week to relax.
At home, my host mother chatted not only about the movie we had watched yesterday but also about other forms of entertainment, such as Broadway. Speaking of New York, we watched a live New Year’s Eve countdown broadcast on TV—the most famous countdown event in the world.
My Japanese friend, who is studying in Vancouver, was supposed to be in New York for a trip. It has been a while since I last visited the city, and although I had lost interest in going there, watching the TV broadcast and hearing about my friend’s trip rekindled my desire to visit.
