現地時間2025年1月12日（日）、午前7時半ごろに寝て、14時半に起きた。テレビでアメリカンフットボールの試合を観た。対戦カードはタンパベイ・バッカニアーズ対ワシントン・コマンダーズ。この試合を含め、プレーオフシーズンがすでに始まっており、スーパーボウルまではあと1か月を切った。
午後、私は散歩に出た。フレーザー川にかかる2本の橋「SkyBridge」・「Pattullo Bridge」の周りを歩いた。前者は鉄道橋で、後者は歩行者と車の両方が通行できる橋だ。
Pattullo BridgeからはSkyBridgeがよく見える。SkyBridgeはいつ見ても壮麗だ。Pattullo Bridgeの北側に目を向けると、高層ビルなどが立ち並ぶ街並みや、雪に覆われた山々を眺めることができる。
冬の東京を彷彿とさせる澄んだ空は、景色を眺めるうえで好条件だった。ただし、残念だった点もある。Pattullo Bridgeの北側には歩道がなく、南側にしか歩道がない点だ。南側の歩道から北側を見ると、欄干や車が視界を遮るため、景色を眺めるのが少し難しかった。
On Sunday, January 12th, 2025, I went to bed around 7:30 a.m. and got up around 2:30 p.m. PST. I watched an American football game on TV—a match between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Washington Commanders. This game was part of the playoff season, which had already started, and the Super Bowl was less than a month away.
I took a walk in the area around two bridges over the Fraser River: SkyBridge and Pattullo Bridge. The former is for trains, while the latter is for both pedestrians and cars.
While walking on Pattullo Bridge, I looked at the other bridge and found it majestic. Facing north, I could see snow-covered mountains and towns with skyscrapers.
The clear weather, which resembled the winter sky in Tokyo, complemented the scenery. However, it wasn’t an ideal environment for taking pictures. Since there is a sidewalk only on the south side of the bridge and none on the north side, getting a clear view of the north side was a bit difficult.
