2025年4月3日（木）、午前9時に起きた。長野県安曇野市の家を昼ごろに出て、同市内の弓道場を訪れた。
今日、新しい弓を初めて使った。「翔」というブランド名の弓だ。弓具店の店員はこのブランドの特徴として、弓をひく際の感触が柔らかい、と説明していた。
実際に今日、私が使ってみたところ柔らかく感じだ。私好みの感触だ。ただし、矢を放つ際の左手にくる振動は、意外と強かった。（あくまで、私の感覚。）
新しい弓の張力は13kgだ。屋久島では12kg、バンクーバーでは11.5kgの弓を使っていた。基本的に、張力が強いほど矢は速く飛ぶ。しかし私が使い始めた13kgの弓は、11.5kgの弓と比べて、矢の速さがそこまで変わらないように思う。この違和感は、道具のせいというよりも、自分の技術不足によるものかもしれない。
On Thursday, April 3rd, 2025, I got up at 9:00 a.m. at a house in Azumino City, Nagano. I left home to go to a kyudojo, a place where people practice Japanese archery, in my neighborhood.
It was my first time using my new bow today. The brand is called Sho, and a salesperson who sells Japanese archery equipment told me that the string feels soft when pulled.
Just as he said, the string felt soft when I pulled it. However, the vibration I felt upon release was stronger than I expected.
The tension of my new bow is 13 kg. I used to use a 12 kg bow on Yakushima Island, and an 11.5 kg bow in Vancouver. Generally, the higher the bow’s tension, the faster the arrow flies, so I aim lower when using a stronger bow. However, with this 13 kg bow, I didn’t really feel like the arrows were flying much faster than they did with the 11.5 kg one. This issue might be due to my lack of skill rather than a problem with the equipment.
