2025年5月10日（土）、午前6時半に起きた。夕方、自宅を出て、横浜市にある白幡池公園へ向かった。
この公園では、桜や睡蓮が目立つ場所にある。睡蓮は園内の池に浮かび、花の一部が開いていた。桜の見頃はもちろん終わっている。
園内の隅で咲いているのはセンダン。この紫色の花は、いつ見ても美しい。
私は5日前にもセンダンを眺めている。場所は、横浜市内にある港の見える丘公園。市内の少なくとも2か所にセンダンが植わっているという事実は、私からするとちょっとした発見だ。屋久島ではいたる場所にあるけれど、関東ではもっと珍しいものだと思っていた。
On Saturday, May 10th, 2025, I got up at 6:30 a.m. and left home in the evening to visit Shirahataike Park in Yokohama.
I had always thought of this park as a well-known spot for viewing cherry blossoms and water lilies. The cherry blossom season has already passed this year, but I saw water lilies blooming in the pond.
Unexpectedly, I found purple flowers on a Chinaberry tree—my favorite kind of tree.
I had seen the same species five days ago at another park in the same city, which means these trees are planted in multiple parks in my hometown. This was a new discovery for me, as I had thought Chinaberry trees were rare in the Kanto region—including this city—while they are quite common on Yakushima Island.
