2025年5月19日（月）、午前9時半に起きた。午前10時に家を出て、明治神宮野球場へ向かった。
東京六大学野球の試合を2試合観戦した。1試合目は明治大学と早稲田大学の一戦、2試合目は慶応義塾大学と法政大学の対決だった。
どちらの試合もとても面白かったが、内容は対照的。第1試合は投手戦の末、早稲田が1-0でサヨナラ勝ちした。第2試合は両チームともに打線が活発だった。最終的に、慶応が6対4で法政に勝利した。
最も印象に残ったのは、早稲田の伊藤樹投手がノーヒットノーランを達成したことだ。大学球界屈指の強豪・明治を相手に達成したのだから、まさに快挙と言える。
私にとっては、ノーヒットノーランを見た初めての日になった。他のノーヒットノーランがどんな感じの雰囲気かわからないけれども、今日の伊藤投手による投球はあっけなく終わったように感じた。相手打者が圧倒されていたことに加え、伊藤投手の投球テンポが速かったからだろう。
On Monday, May 19th, 2025, I got up at 9:30 a.m. and left home at 10:00 a.m. to head to Meiji Jingu Stadium in Tokyo.
I watched two university baseball games in Japan. One was between Meiji University and Waseda University. The other was between Keio University and Hosei University.
Although both games were very exciting, their nature was quite different. In the former match, both teams’ pitchers dominated, and Waseda won 1-0 with a walk-off. In contrast, the latter game featured powerful hitting from both sides, and Keio defeated Hosei with a final score of 6-4.
What impressed me the most today was that Waseda University’s ace, Tatsuki Ito, threw a no-hitter against Meiji, which is considered one of the strongest university baseball teams in Japan. His performance was a historic moment, and it was my first time witnessing a no-hitter. Although I can’t compare his pitching to other no-hitters, I felt that today’s no-hitter ended in the blink of an eye. It was probably because the opposing batters were overwhelmed and his pitching tempo was very quick.
