2025年6月5日（木）、午前11時に起きた。午後、家を出て、海老名市の図書館を訪れた。
バンクーバーでお世話になったホストマザーから、連絡があった。スタンレー・カップの決勝を観たとのこと。スタンレー・カップの決勝は、北米のアイスホッケーリーグ「NHL」の集大成にあたる試合だ。
そんな大事なシリーズが今日から始まり、最終的に4戦を先にとったチームが栄冠を手にする。今年の対戦カードは昨年と同じで、フロリダ・パンサーズとエドモントン・オイラーズだ。
アイスホッケーのファンとして、私は当然この試合に注目している。オイラーズの試合を現地で観た者としては、彼らに勝ってほしい。
バンクーバーの人たちは、今回の決勝をどうみているのだろうか。あくまで推測だけれども、オイラーズの勝利を願っているのではないかと思う。オイラーズがカナダにあるチームで、一方パンサーズはアメリカにあるチームだからだ。カナダに本拠地を置くチームはここ30年以上、優勝していない。
On Thursday, June 5th, 2025, I got up at 11:00 a.m. and left my home in the afternoon to go to a library in Ebina, Kanagawa.
My acquaintance, who is a fan of the Vancouver Canucks, messaged me today. She said that she watched the Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers. The most important series of this NHL season started today.
As a fan of ice hockey and someone who watched an Oilers game in person this year, I’m definitely paying attention to the final and want the team from Edmonton to win.
Although I haven’t asked local people in Vancouver about their opinions on this topic, I guess they want the Oilers to win, since the team is from Canada and their opponent is from the United States. No NHL team from Canada has won the Stanley Cup in over 30 years, even though Canadians are proud of the sport and their national team is highly competitive.
