2025年6月11日（水）、午前2時ごろに起きた。朝7時ごろに家を出て、東京ドームへ向かった。
東京では現在、全日本大学野球選手権大会が開催中だ。会場は明治神宮野球場と東京ドーム。神宮球場で今日開催するはずだった対戦カードが雨で延期になり、私は東京ドームで3試合を観戦した。野球ファンのほか、プロ野球のスカウトらしき人たちもドームに駆けつけていた。
各試合の結果は次の通り。東海大学が城西国際大学に8-1で、福井工業大学が大阪産業大学に3-0で、中京大学が近畿大学に5-0で勝利した。
第3試合が最も印象に残った。中京大学の先発・大矢琉晟投手の快投を目撃できたからだ。7回無失点の投球で、許したヒットは単打3本のみ。彼の名前を今日まで知らなかった私としては、驚きのパフォーマンスだった。
近畿大学の先発・有方祥互投手も悪くなかった。彼はまだ2年生。大学卒業までの2年半、どんな活躍を見せてくれるのか楽しみだ。
On Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, I got up around 2:00 a.m. and left home around 7:00 a.m. to visit Tokyo Dome and watch baseball games.
This week, the Japan National Collegiate Baseball Championship is taking place in Tokyo. I had originally been interested in the games scheduled for Meiji Jingu Stadium today, but they were postponed due to rain. So instead, I went to the Dome, where three other tournament games were set to take place, and watched them surrounded by baseball fans and possibly some professional scouts.
Here are the results of the three games: Tokai University beat Josai International University 8–1, Fukui University of Technology won 3–0 over Osaka Sangyo University, and Chukyo University defeated Kindai University 5–0.
The most impressive game was the third one, in which Ryusei Ohya, the starting pitcher for Chukyo University, dominated the opposing batters. He threw seven innings and allowed only three singles. His performance was like that of a professional player. I was surprised by him because I hadn’t heard of him before.
The starting pitcher for the opposing team, Shogo Arikata, also pitched well. He’s still a sophomore, which means he still has time to improve before he becomes eligible for the professional draft, where fourth-year students have a chance to sign with pro teams.
