2025年6月13日（金）、午前7時半ごろに起きた。朝、明治神宮野球場を訪れた。
全日本大学野球選手権の試合を3試合観戦した。最初の試合は青山学院大学と北海学園大学、次の試合は西南学院大学と東北福祉大学、最後に観たのは早稲田大学と東海大学の対戦だった。
青山学院大学の試合を観るのは、私にとって今回が初めて。近年の大学野球界を牽引するチームがどんな野球をするのか、とても興味があった。彼らがどれほど強いかと言うと、2023年から24年にあった計4度の全国大会のうち、3大会で優勝している。主力選手が卒業するなかでも強さを保ち、今年も所属リーグで優勝。全国大会に進出してきた。
北海学園大学を相手にした今日の試合は、5対0で勝利した。投打ともに、その強さを見せつけてくれた。特に鈴木泰成投手の力強い速球は圧巻で、相手打者に攻略する隙を与えなかった。
On Friday, June 13th, 2025, I got up at 7:30 a.m. to head to Meiji Jingu Stadium in Tokyo.
I watched three games there as part of the Japan National Collegiate Baseball Championship. The first one was between Aoyama Gakuin University and Hokkai-Gakuen University, the second between Seinan Gakuin University and Tohoku Fukushi University, and the last between Waseda University and Tokai University.
It was my first time watching a game played by Aoyama Gakuin University, and I was excited because they’re considered the strongest college team in Japan in recent years. They won three out of the four national tournaments held between 2023 and 2024. Even though their core players graduated every year, the team has maintained its competitiveness and reached the national tournament again this year by winning the local league they belong to.
Today, they beat Hokkai-Gakuen University 5–0, and that result alone made it clear to me why they’re so strong. Their batters hit the ball hard, while their pitchers barely gave the opponent any chances. In particular, Taisei Suzuki, a third-year pitcher, dominated with powerful fastballs that the opposing batters had a hard time hitting.
