現地時間2025年7月22日（火）、午前10時に起きた。午後、弓道の練習をした。
練習後、フォルスクリーク沿いを歩いた。対岸の集合住宅群を眺めながら、グランビル・アイランドやチャールソンパークなどを歩いた。
グランビル・アイランドの端あたりで、黒い鳥を目にした。鵜だ。間違っているかもしれないが、若鳥か非繁殖期のウミウだと思う。
ウミウは日本でも見ることができるらしいが、私は見たことがない。日本でよく目撃した鵜は、目の下が黄色い種類だ。
On Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025, I got up at 10:00 a.m. PDT and went out in the afternoon to join Japanese archery practice.
After the practice, I walked around places along False Creek, such as Granville Island and Charleson Park, seeing skyscrapers across the inlet, including Vancouver House by Bjarke Ingels Group.
Near the edge of Granville Island, I spotted a black bird, which was a cormorant. I might be wrong, but I guess it was an immature or nonbreeding Pelagic Cormorant.
Although Pelagic Cormorants can be seen in Japan too, I’ve never seen this species there. The cormorants I saw many times in Japan were ones with yellow parts below their eyes.
