現地時間2025年7月20日（日）、午前10時半に起きた。夕方、ローヒード・タウンセンター駅の周辺を歩いた。
この街区は、バーナビー市の主要地区の1つと言えるだろう。2つの路線がこの駅で接続し、駅前には高層の集合住宅がいくつも立っている。ウォルマートなどが入った、大型モールも駅前にある。図書館を備える面白いショッピングセンターだ。
街区内の公園、キャメロン・パークではマロニエが緑色の実をつけていた。マロニエに似た、別種の木が立っていたが、名前は分からない。トチノキにも近いように見えた。
この公園の西側には、ストーニー・クリークという小川が流れている。遊歩道が川沿いにのびており、今日歩いた限りではほとんど人に遭遇しなかった。鉄道駅、高層マンション群、そして森のなかを流れる小川。ここには、バンクーバー都市圏の代表的な特徴がそろっている。
On Sunday, July 20th, 2025, I got up around 10:30 a.m. PDT and went out in the evening to walk around Lougheed Town Centre Station.
The neighborhood seems to be a major district in the City of Burnaby, as two different train lines meet at the station, and several residential skyscrapers have been built in the area. In front of the station stands a huge mall that even includes a Walmart. Surprisingly, a public library operates inside the shopping center.
At Cameron Park in the neighborhood, I saw a horse chestnut tree with green fruits. Near it stood another type of tree that looked similar to a horse chestnut. It seemed close to the Japanese horse chestnut, but I’m not sure what it’s called.
Stoney Creek is also accessible from the station. While it was pleasant to walk along the creek, I rarely came across other people there. Seeing these sights—the station, the tall condos, and the small river running through the forest—I felt that this area embodied many of the defining features of Metro Vancouver.
