現地時間2025年8月18日（月）、正午ごろに起きた。夕方、弓道の練習をした。
練習前、ニューウェストミンスターのウォルマートで買い物をした。
ウォルマートに向かう道中、歩道のわきに立つサルスベリを見かけた。白い花は咲き始めの段階。見頃はこれからのようだ。日本ではよくサルスベリを目にするが、バンクーバーで見かけるのは今日が初めてだった。
今日見かけた数本のサルスベリは、どれも単独で植わっていた。複数の株をまとめて植えて、サルスベリ並木を作ればよいのに、と個人的には思う。夏に咲く花が街を華やかにしてくれることだろう。
On Monday, August 18th, 2025, I got up around noon PDT and practiced Japanese archery in the evening.
To go to Walmart in New Westminster to buy food, I went back and forth between the area around New Westminster Station and Walmart.
A few crape myrtles stand along the streets and have just started blooming. It was my first time seeing this species in Vancouver, although it is commonly found in many towns in Japan.
From what I saw today, each crape myrtle stands on its own. I wonder why they haven’t been planted together to form a row. A road lined with these flowering trees would surely be gorgeous and brighten up the neighborhood.
