現地時間2025年8月3日（日）、正午に起きた。夕方、外出した。バーナビーの公園「セントラルパーク」を歩いた。
公園では、多くの人がピクニックを楽しんでいた。バンクーバーの人たちはピクニックが大好きだ。
今日私の目に留まったのは、鮮やかな赤い実。七竈（ななかまど）の一種だ。七竈の仲間はバンクーバーでよく見かける。色づいた葉を見るのは今日が初めてで、見事だった。
池のそばには、背の高い楓の木が立っている。幹は苔むし、大ぶりの葉をつけた枝は四方に広がる。自信はないけれど、ビッグリーフメープルではないかと思う。
On Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, I got up at noon PDT and took a walk in Central Park, a large urban park in Burnaby, in the evening.
In the park, many groups were enjoying picnics around the forested areas. As I felt last summer, I was once again struck by how common picnicking is in this region.
While walking along the paths, I saw clusters of red mountain ash berries. Although this species isn’t rare to come across, it was my first time seeing its leaves turning red and yellow — they were stunning.
Near a pond in the park, there’s a tall maple tree with large leaves. Its spreading branches and moss-covered bark looked beautiful. I can’t say for sure what kind of maple it is, but I guess it’s a Bigleaf maple.
